History Trip

I will be gone for a couple of days. I will be embarking on a history trip with my son Trevor and his class. I have been looking forward to this all year. It will give me a chance to bond with my oldest son and get to learn the history of the beautiful state of Montana. We will be staying overnight in an old convent and taking a ferry trip down the Missouri River. We will also get to see the smallest river in the world! I will blog via cell phone when I can. So there will be some Verizon links at the bottom of each post. Just ignore those and I will post as much as I can along the way. We will be leaving Monday morning bright and early in the morning. I can't wait to get going!!!

Old Testment Prophecies Concerning Christ.

Here is a list of some Old Testament prophecies concerning Christ. Remember some of these were were written over a thousand years before Christ was born. Yet they describe details specific in Christs life and death and Resurrection. This shows not only through faith but through science and history Jesus is the son of God. All prophecies below have been fulfilled through the life of Jesus Christ.

Note the last book in the list of prophecies is Malachi and was written by Malachi approximately in 430 BC. So roughly around 43o years before Christ was born. That is pretty amazing if you ask me? Don't take my word for it! Read the below and come to your own conclusions. I have also put down when the books were written so you could have a picture of the time frame they were written in.

Topics

I know it seems all I post about is God and the bible. I seldom post about anything else. I can't help but post about what I think about everyday all day long. I have this thirst for knowledge about God that can never be quenched. My passion is God and his works and I can't help but post about it. God has been working on me like a mechanic works on restoring an old classic car. Part by part he has been restoring me slowly. I am amazed at the depths that God has gone to do such a restoration on me.

I didn't even know I needed work on in some areas. These areas can not be reached by alcohol or drugs. These areas are only seen and mended by God himself and then revealed to you once the work is done. The depth of pain and sorrows go deeper then we know. God reaches in and cleans house so you no longer have that to deal with the unseen forces caused by them. Only God can do that, there are no doctors or drugs that can completely heal you from the inside out. I am not ashamed of sharing this with anyone. This is God working in my life and it has more meaning beyond any thing else I could ever write about.

Inside out comes to mind as I write this. Gods work/works in our lives start from the inside and works to the outside. God plants the roots of his love within us so that we may flourish on the inside and what is produced is shown and worked on the outside. Thus we become loving people to those around us, our community, and most importantly those who need help. I no longer live for what I can do, but what God can do through me.

I used to think I am what I am because of me. Now I know I am what I am because of God. No matter what I do I can never fill the void that was once in my life. Only Jesus Christ can do that. Every thing I have has been given to me by God. Family, Friends, Shelter, Food. Every thing that you can think of has been given by God to all of us. Many doubt in a God or that Jesus Christ died for our sins. I am not one of them because I know without a shadow of a doubt he exists. I know God, and his son. They have been by my side through every trial I have faced.

They comforted me when I reached the deepest depths of sadness. They stood by me even when I was ashamed of what the world might think of me if I admitted I loved them. I am no longer ashamed to state that I love God! I love what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross! I love that I have the holy spirit within me! I love that one day I will share this love face to face with all my loved ones who have passed away in Christ. We WILL be together in paradise when the LORD comes back to claim what is his. When we see his light for the first time, there will be no question on how powerful he is. There will be no question that he is our God, creator, and savior.

I wish those of you who are family or friend would just seriously think about this. If you have no faith in Jesus. Look to the well documented facts concerning his life. You'll see they are as solid as rock! I challenge you to search and really dig into the life of Jesus. Look at all the prophecies concerning him written thousands to hundreds of years before he was even a speck in the womb.
They are completely undeniable. If you want I can show you them so you don't have to spend long searching. I am willing to help in anyway I can, you just have to ask.

Well my wife asked if I was writting another novel on blogger. Meaning I need to pay her attention before she decides to play Xbox rather then watch a movie with me. So I am off and please consider what I have stated above. May God bless you all greatly and give you comfort beyond measure.

This message was sent using the Picture and Video Messaging service from Verizon Wireless!

Tonight was movie night at Church and it was awesome! Our Church is located in an old movie theater in my home town so we have a movie night every month. This month the movie was Star Wars A New Hope. It was great seeing it on the big screen again, and the cool thing is that it was free and open to the community! Next month the movie will be The Empire Strikes Back. We had a lot of fun tonight and there were a lot of great costumes. A couple people came as Jabba The Hut. It was an impressive costume and won the costume contest where the grand prize a gift certificate to Starbucks! Tonight was truly fun for the family and all the friends we have made at the church.

Slaying My Giants!

I listened to Greg Laurie today while at work. He used a metaphor for temptation that leads us to sin. He called our downfalls in our walk giants. He said how do you take care of the Giants so they can't harm you? You take them down and cut off their heads! It sounds crazy but it is metaphorically speaking the best way to deal with sin. That is what I've been trying my hardest to do lately. However the fight is much harder then it seems it would be.

You see I have a few giants that like to hang out in my backyard and destroy what I've planted in my garden. I know I have to take care of (wipe out) the clumsy footed giants that tend to pumble what fruit I start to bare. I have done that with great success with one of my giants named tobacco. I cut his head off and I haven't had to deal with his annoyances any more. I am using this slaying as a warm up for the rest. However the rest seem to be a bit stronger and will take more work.

I know I'll never be rid of them but I know I must keep fighting them or I won't have a garden that produces good fruit. So I'll break out my armor and go to town until I have no strength left in me and I draw my last breath. Like Great Heart in John Bunyan's "The Pilgrims Progress" I will take them head on! We all have giants and they need to be dealt with one day and today is as good as any to start!

Boldness

What an amazing example of boldness in the walk of a Christian. In Acts 3 Peter and John are walking into the temple for 3 o’clock prayer service. They came upon a beggar who was laying lame at the gate named “The Beautiful Gate”. The beggar asks for money but he gets far more then he expects. Instead of tossing a coin in the direction of the crippled man Peter leans over and gives him the ability to walk again in Jesus Christ’s name.

This being done caused the beggar who now can walk again to leap up and down and praise God. Peter noticed a crowd of over 5000 people who all were looking at what all the commotion was about. He took that opportunity to tell them all about Jesus and who he was. The temple guard also heard this and grew worried and arrested Peter and John. In the process they were brought before Annas and Caiaphas the two men who were at the heart of the plot to kill Jesus. They in essence were the God Fathers of the kill Jesus movement. So telling them Jesus was the son of God and resurrected meant sure death.

However this did not happen! You must read Acts 4 to see how bold Peter and John were in front of these men. They end up letting the two apostles go because of fear of riot! In that statement I find Gods humor. That is exactly what Pilot feared when dealing with the mob who wanted to Crucify Christ. What makes it even more humorous is that the people in that mob that Pilot feared were the same people who Annas and Caiaphas now feared! What goes around comes around fellas!

I am amazed at the situation these guys were thrust into obviously by the hand of God. Without God it was the worst situation that they could be thrust into. Standing in front of the two men who hated Christ and wanted to silence anything spoke about him. It was these two men who manipulated the crowds so the powers that be would put Jesus to death without a fair trial. They were ruthless enough to put an innocent man to death because the power they held was threatened by Jesus.

Now Peter and John stand before them and testify boldly in front of these two men about the man they had put to death. They did this without flinching because of their protection in the Lord. I have to say this has become one of my favorite stories in the bible. It shows how God is in control and we should never fear persecution if we are in stride with God. I’ve read this before and never grasped the miracle and power behind this story. I am truly amazed and grateful that I do now.

Life In A Bottle

Someone once asked me if I knew Jesus. I replied yes I do. They asked me if I were sure. I told them I was. Then asked if I knew I was going to heaven. I said yep I'm pretty sure. They then proceeded to say that if I can't find any of the answers I can find them in the bottom of a bottle of hard alcohol.

I guess some people look for answers to their problems there. However that is a bad place to look for answers. The bottom of the bottle is one of those places that adds to your list of questions. You may find some answers to life there. They'll be answers that are costly in your relationships with others as well as relationships with family members. Too much alcohol or any kind of drug makes you do things you normally wouldn't.

It masks your feelings and inhibits your way of dealing with life. It burns bridges and destroys families. Sure you feel good while your drunk and you don't have a care in the world. However that feeling is only temporary. When you wake up the next morning you may have to face what you did the night before. If you are looking for comfort and a way to get through the pain. Don't look for it in the bottom of the bottle. Look for it between the covers of the holly bible. There you'll find answers, and there you'll learn about the great comforter the holy spirit who never leaves you.

I have seen the ugly side of alcohol through many people. I have even seen it through me a time or two. It really is a bad thing especially if you can't drink it in moderation. That can quickly turn into something that destroys your life. The only answer in the bottom of the bottle is just more pain.

Jesus is my answer to all my problems. He is the friend that stands beside me no matter what I do. He lifts me up when I fall down. He wipes my tears as they roll down my cheeks. He is my strength when I have none left in me. He has been through all my times of heartbreak and listened to my cries. He sustains me through all that comes my way. It hurts to know there are so many out there that have never felt that relationship with Jesus. He is the only one who can bring comfort to ones soul. That dark void full of pain within could never be filled unless by the holy spirit that fills us with a joy and comfort that can't be duplicated by alcohol.

May 22!

Is the date of which the long awaited addition to the Indiana Jones franchise is released. I have been waiting over 6 years after hearing they were looking for the perfect script. Delay after delay made people wonder what the next object of interest Indiana would be pursuing. I came to the conclusion that it must be something no one expects. This is what I came up with 2 years ago. I even created a movie poster for it.

You see the mythological properties of the velveeta cheese block warrant a religious type aura about it. You see it is made from ingredients not known to human kind. Most of which are thought by many to taste heavenly mixed with chili or another mythological food SPAM for the perfect party dip! Not only that, but it never ages or goes bad! It has a shelf life of 40 years and doesn't have to be refrigerated until it is opened! With such traits as this it must have fell from the heavens somewhere around Roswell New Mexico! The cheese of the Gods will be sought out by Indian Jones?! I think not but I thought it was feasible.

Favorite Pastors!!!

I decided to look up one of my all time favorite pastors (Bill Ritchie) and give him a listen. He is pastor of Crossroads Community Church of Vancouver Wa. He just so happens to be teaching Eph. 6:10-24 today. That is what we went over in Church during Wed night service and I thought that was kinda cool! I used to listen to Greg Laurie as well as Bill Ritchie all the time. Those two pastors seemed to inspire me the most, Hank Hanegraaff has also been an inspiration in my walk. I truly love listening to apologetics for the Christian Faith. As far as pastors go in my opinion Levi Lusko is of that caliber of pastor. I am truly lucky to attend Fresh Life Church. I think it is so cool that I can listen to all of them Via Internet and down load them all to my Zune!!! I am never out of reach of good bible study!

Here are the links to all of the above ministries:

Hank Hanegraaff Christian Research Institute (The Bible Answer Man)

Levi Lusko Fresh Life Church

Greg Laurie Harvest Ministries (A New Beginning)

Bill Ritchie Cross Roads Community Church (Brand New)

Back On Track

I finally finished the reading the whole bible. I was trying to think of a good book of the bible to read every morning since I have accomplished my goal of reading the bible straight through. I decided to go with the book of Acts. It is a great read and I am looking forward to getting more out of it. With the insight I've learned at Church and other informative podcasts and books. I can now read it with better understanding then when I first started reading the bible. I am excited to get more and more out of the wonderful book. It is a book that you could never tire of reading.

Drained

This week has been long and hard. I hope it gets easier with the nice weather. Seems like cabin fever is setting in for everyone and we need to get out and enjoy the outdoors! Today has been really nice and has improved the out look of the week!

Monday Service!

I missed Sundays service this last week. So I got creative and downloaded the podcast on to my Zune. With the Zune you can plug it directly into your Xbox 360 and listen or View any Song or video present in your Zune library. Once I started the Fresh Life podcast I was amazed at the quality and size of the picture on my HD T.V. I had to snap a picture of it and share, I thought it was pretty cool having service in my living room. However it isn't as good as being there in person.

Battlefield Bad Company

I have been waiting for this game forever!!! This will be the most realistic shooter when it comes to environmental distruction. Meaning anything such as the house your hiding in or the tree your taking cover behind can and will be destroyed. With a new game engine all this can be made possible. Here is a video about this game engine.

Also here is some really cool gameplay photage of the online multiplayer experience. I am so looking forward to this game I can't even tell you how excited I am about it!The cool thing about the game is the option from running on foot or jumping into vehicles. Here is some photage on the vehicle gameplay. Note: Any explosion you see or Rockets from the sky are human controlled. There are no CPU controlled actions in the multiplayer game. Every thing is realtime controlled by people you play with or against.

This is what the game looks like when you play by foot. All buildings can be destroyed and you have helicopters and tanks to watch out for. This game is very fun!

www.harvey-family.net COMING SOON!

My genius wife is working on our own web page. I must say I am impressed that she figured out how to do all that on her own. Here is what our home page looks like now. My wife is amazing at many things and this is just one of them. I have been so blessed to have her in my life. I love you honey!

In the near future you'll be able to access pictures of our kids as well as our personal blogs thought this website. The URL is www.harvey-family.net for those of you interested. Knowing Stacey, she'll probably change it up and add to it from time to time. I'm going to have here give me a run down to how she does it. I want to create a website too!

Friday, May 9, 2008

I decided to play a little COD 4 (Call Of Duty 4) and had some fun. However my gaming skills have faded and I am not the killing machine I once was. None the less I had a lot of fun and had some good games. I must say that some of those kids online have mouths that shock me. If I were to talk that way when I was a kid. I'd probably sit around all day sucking on a bar of soap. It amazes me what comes out of kids mouths these days. It actually takes a lot of the fun out of the game, so I just turn the earpiece volume down and enjoy the game without all the horrible 12 year old language.

Interesting Find

During my morning reading time I came across this passage in the bible. Being that it relates directly to what we are studying in the book of John. I figured I'd share it with you all. In the book of Zephaniah there is reference or a prophecy on Christs evening trial and also how he will be judged and swept away before dawn by the corrupt leaders of Jerusalem. Leaving no trace of their prey(Jesus). It also states that they are like lions hunting for their prey. That is how they looked for Jesus when Judas led them to him at night! Check it out I was pretty excited when I read it.

Zephaniah

CHAPTER 3

Jerusalem’s Rebellion and Redemption

1 How terrible it will be for rebellious, polluted Jerusalem, the city of violence and crime. 2 It proudly refuses to listen even to the voice of the Lord. No one can tell it anything; it refuses all correction. It does not trust in the Lord or draw near to its God.
3 Its leaders are like roaring lions hunting for their victims—out for everything they can get. Its judges are like ravenous wolves at evening time, who by dawn have left no trace of their prey. 4 Its prophets are arrogant liars seeking their own gain. Its priests defile the Temple by disobeying God’s laws. 5 But the Lord is still there in the city, and he does no wrong. Day by day his justice is more evident, but no one takes notice—the wicked know no shame.

Todays Prayer.

The outcome of our future is determined by the choices we make in the present. That is why it is always good to base our decisions upon strong biblical principals and prayer. Sometimes it is hard to see Gods will through all of the distractions of the world. Sometimes our feelings or pride get in the way. My prayer for today is that I make decisions based on Gods will alone, and not my own. I pray that he gives me the words to speak to those who ask me for advice. Please allow me to be comforting and also uplifting to those who are down and sad. I will do my best to follow the Lords lead in whatever may take place today and for the rest of my life to the best of my ability. With God we can make it far, but without him we shall always fall short of the mark.

This Afternoon

I spent the afternoon eating chocolate cake from Costco and watching chick flicks with my wife. I feel kinda weird about admitting that but I had no choice! It was forced upon me by my wife. She has this way of talking me into stuff like that! She has some magical power over me. All I have to say is Eve and the apple! Adam knew it was wrong but Eve talked him into it!! Besides I couldn't say no to the chocolate cake from Costco! That was just the thing to bribe me into watching a chick flick!

I am proud to say I didn't cry! There is no proof that I did! I just have itchy eyes from time to time. It is normal and allergy season is at hand. I have severe allergies and they act up every so often. Especially when I watch chick flicks and eat chocolate cake.

Cast The First Stone.....

I was appalled the other night while watching a reality TV show. In this show a Christian women was casting judgement on a new ager. She would ask a question about the New Age belief system this person believed in. With out letting the person answer she shut her down by casting judgement upon her. Not only that she continually did this and expected the New Age believer to listen to her when she spoke of Christ and the bible.

Let me be the first to say that I disagree with the New Age religion or movement. However I must also disagree with the approach a lot of Christians make to witness to others. You can't expect others to listen to what you say if you start of in judgement against them. Listening to their view point is not compromising your belief in Christ. However judging them is compromising your position to witness to them. Our job is not to pass judgement but to bring those to Jesus through love.

I am not saying there isn't a point where you must stand up for what you believe, but we should always start off with the mindset of love rather then judgement. If you do have to defend your belief, do it respectfully.

Matthew 7:1-5
“Do not judge lest you be judged. For the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye”

I always wonder why people are uncomfortable when approached by Christians. This show let me see the ugly side of Christianity. Those who mock the funerals of fallen soldiers as Gods judgement on the U.S. truly in my opinion do not show true Christian values. They are by far in the extreme and hinder the body of Christ by casting their own judgement upon the masses through media attention.

Or worse yet as we shall see here this summer when they stand on the street corners with blow horns stating you are all going to hell! Noting like looking crazy to draw the masses to Jesus Christ! Instead of standing on the street corner condemning people to hell. Maybe you should be doing some good for the community. Maybe we should take the time to talk kindly with people who don't believe in Christ.

Be friends to them and talk to them with respect and love. Just because they may believe their distant ancestor is a monkey doesn't mean we shouldn't be friends with them. Remember Christ dinned with prostitutes and tax collectors. As we should do with non-Christians.

Mark 2:15-17

And he happens to be dining in his home,
and many tax collectors and sinners were dining
with Jesus and his disciples;
for there were many, and they followed him.

And the scholars of the Pharisees
seeing that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors
said to his disciples,
"Does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

And Jesus hearing says to them,
"The strong have no need of a physician, but those who are ill;
I did not come to call the just, but sinners."

Rather then pass judgement and cast them away we should be friendly and help them as we would any Christian we know. It is what Christ calls us Christians to do. So many tend to act as if they are more righteous then the drug dealer or wino that lives next door. It is our calling to out stretch our arms to help lift them to their feet rather then beat them further into the ground.

A loving heart heals many, but a blind heart fuels bitterness and hate. Building friendship with those who follow the world will show them that Christians aren't so bad or as judgemental as they once thought. As Levi put it, be the thermostat rather then the thermometer. Telling a non-Christian what temperature they are is always going to end ugly. Instead listen to them so that they will show you the same respect. They will learn more through what you say and be more open to contemplate what you have to say.

Be patient and show grace and love. Remember that they too are struggling through life as we are, no matter how they may view what happens after we die. We can only offer them the hope in Jesus Christ through love and kindness. This can all be done without compromising our walk with the lord. We are to be the salt of the world. How can we be the salt of the world if we won't step out of the bottle and into the mix.

Just my thoughts after seeing what I saw on TV tonight. It really bothers me to see Christians acting so judgemental towards people. It makes us all look horrible!

Burned Out!

Had to do some Spring burning yesturday. We snapped a few pictures of the day and the scenery around our property. Overall the burn went smoothly except once when my brother almost got consumed by flame. The wind picked up and he was trying to keep the fire from reaching the wooden fence around our uncles house. I had to make a made dash through flame and sticker bushes to come to his aide! Blinded and smothered by inhaling smoke he was saved as was the wooden fence. That was the most exciting part of the day.

Above is one of my Grandpas turkeys. I miss the old man!

Part of the aftermath.

Me messin with our new camera.> Me getting the hose ready for the fire.

Sunday Service.

I don't know how he does it but he does. My pastor will be teaching on topics that are exactly what is going on in my life the week prior to what he speaks on. This last week I had someone state very passionately that all roads lead to God. They said they loved Jesus but all religions lead to heaven and God. I disagree with that but decided to let the topic end in order to keep this person from getting really angry. I have a lot of respect for this person and do believe his heart is in the right place, and he means well.

If you like Christ and choose him to be your road, then you can't pick and choose only what you like to hear from his words. Jesus specificly stated he was the only way (the only road) to get to heaven.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7 NIV)

As for today's service it was as if I had talked to Levi prior to it and asked him to address this issue. Being that Levi must have some sort of Vulcan mind meld talent. There was no need because he was hitting directly on the topic of my week without any conversation about it. Anyway for those who think that all roads lead to heaven then take a listen to today's service as food for thought. You can watch it here .....

Recycled Cravens Is Better Then Fresh Folgers!

To keep today on track with the rest of the week. I woke up this morning to find we were out of coffee!!!!!!!!!!!

Notice the exclamation points that really speak of how horrble running out of coffee is! I had no choice but to recycle yesturdays Craven's coffee grounds. I must admit that although it was bad tasting, it tasted much better then fresh folgers coffee. I can't believe I used to drink Folgers! That stuff is like brewing a pot of drano. Well that was my morning in a nut shell. I stayed up till about 11:30PM playing Call Of Duty 4 with my boss and really could have used some good coffee to start the morning off right.

INSANITY!!!!!

Today was insane! I woke up late and missed out on morning devotion. No coffee and had little time to get dressed for work. On top of all the craziness going on with the remodel we had tons of freight moving through the back room all day! There was barely enough room to maneuver from one side of the room to the other. Everyone and their brother decided to stand and talk right in the way! It is a good thing that God blessed me with a mass amount of patients, because it was a stressfull day.

So tonight I am going to jump online and play some Rainbow Six Vegas if my Xbox Live account isn't cancelled. Here is some multiplayer game play photage for those who have no idea what I am talking about. This game is AWESOME!!!!

I could really use a little fun on the xbox about now so I am going to cut this blog entry short and go play! Everyone have a safe and fun weekend!

One rough week!

I am ready for the weekend! Work is going through a remodel and stress is running high in my place of work. I am looking forward to the weekend to unwind and relax. I'd love to take my vacation earlier then planned because I am really ready for vacation! Over all it is only one bad week out of many good weeks. Soon the clutter of the remodel will be gone and all will be back to normal.
